I would definitely agree with barry. Having read his review and passing though london i wanted a taste of home - and i found it. The pho was delicious with subtle aroma and delicate flavours. The spring rolls were to die for and the mocchi well outstanding i loved the fresh ginger.

A great find! Feels as if it is a secret "place" on Kingsland road with all the other vietnamese restaurants and only by chance or luck will you actually see it! The spring rolls we had for starters were definately home-made! highly recommended. the crispy fried whole fish was a treat and we made a very good choice by opting for the tangy tamarind sauce. we were trying to be a bit adventurous by choosing the picked mustard greens from the side vegetable dishes. luckily we were not disappointed with our choice full of garlic......delicious!
We shared the dessert of sesame mocchi dumplings! we love ginger and this surely did work as a dessert with ginger. not too sweet with a lovely texture on your tongue.
Make sure you find this place and give it a go, you won't be disappointed!

A smarter choice in a street filled with vietnamese eateries. Don't let the bright lights put you off, this is a fantastic place to eat. The Hanoi Cafe offers a huge menu with dishes aimed at every type of appetite, from those eateing on the run to those who would prefer a leisurely three course meal. Highlights include the 'roll your own' summer rolls which are a bit messy but fun and the caramelly sizzling prawns. Really spicey but delicious. Although the service can be a little slow and mistakes are sometimes made, the food is consistently good.
