I had dinner at Mexxa Mexxa with a friend on Friday 12 October while touring through the south of England and other parts of Europe. The food was fresh and flavourful and the service outstanding. I would eat there again should i find myself in that neck of the woods. Highly recommended. Paul Senosi Cape Town, South Africa.

Just come back from a fantastic evening at Mexxa Mexxa. Despite the fact they have just changed their menu, the food was just as tasty as our previous visits. I had the chicken in beer and my partner had the Ribs and we were both very impressed. The staff were chatty and helpful and the restaurant has a good atmosphere. Definitely one of our favourite places to go in Maidstone!

Admittedly it was some time ago that I visited Mexxa Mexxa but after reading a few negative reviews here I felt some praise was in order. The meal that myself and three friends had was prompt, delicious and original. One of my friends was vegan and the staff were only too happy to accomodate her, unlike many other restaurants. The service was friendly and fairly efficient, though I admit there is room for improvement. Most improtantly though, I recognised the menu and its idiosyncratic similarities to the Hooden Horse chain of pubs' menus from around Kent in the 1990's. After looking this up, sure enough it turns out that the owner of Mexxa Mexxa was one of the partners in the Hooden Horse chain. This man single-handedly INTRODUCED Mexican food to Kent, and deserves a high amount of recognition just for that. No wonder our meal was so good. Top marks from me, keep up the good work guys!

What a shame Mexxa Mexxa was one of my favourite restaurants in Maidstone, I can only guess it has a new chef or owner. We eat there last night, Tuesday so not that busy for them. We had the famous fajita’s which I have had there countless times and enjoyed, but this this time it was a disgrace, chewy fatty over cook beef swimming in 10mm of oil…..what has happened to the sizzling melt in the mouth stake we loved you for……..Mexxa Mexxa sort it out if you want to stay in business.

I went to Mexxa Mexxa in Maidstone a week or so ago for lunch with my family including my 2 year old son. The food, service, atmosphere and price was amazing. Would recommed it to anyone, give them a chance!!

Average meal. Terrible service. As we walked in a couple leaving suggested we do not order the ribs. We sat down at 9pm and got our drink 30mins later, and starters just before 10pm (Nachos - were nice). We laughed because the couple next to us had both ordered ribs. Within seconds of their meal being served, they got up and left. Our mains course arrived about 1030 (1.5 hrs after we sat down). The sizzling fahita's were cold to the point that i demonstrated this to the waitress by putting my fingers on the supposedly red hot skillet! This used to be a great restaurant and very lively. Sadly, it seems to have lost its way, and that was also reflected in the number of empty tables (on a sat night?)

This is by far the worst place I have ever been! I kept expecting Jeremy Beadle or someone to jump out because so many things went wrong. I emailed Mexxa on Tuesday to book a table for Saturday night and was told a confirmation email would be sent. By Sat morn no email so asked my friend to call them who said they had no recollection but were fully booked now! We then rang back pretending to be someone else and they said they had plenty of space??!! Very confusing! Our table was booked for 8 but we were running 5 minutes late so we phoned and told it was no problem. When we got to the restaurant they had given our table away and squahed us in the corner around a table for 2! We were told we could move when a table became free but we had to contiunally ask. We waited 20 mins for them to take our drinks order so in the end we had to go and ask at the kitchen. 15 mins later a bottle of wine appeared with no glasses and the same for the jug of water. After finally ordering our starter it arrived immediately but was stone cold so we sent it back and the waiter was rude and said it was supposed to be like that-since when was chilli freezing? When it returned half of it was missing and it was obvious it had just been microwaved. Anyway so there we are eating our (now) very hot starters but with no drinks. After asking 3 waiters for glasses after 20 minutes they all arranged simultaneously with them and got cross at us for asking 3 of them! But they brought 5 glasses full with water when we already had the jug. Anyway they didn't ever seem to know who had ordered what so they kept going from table to table asking did u order beer/wine/nachos which was really disturbing our conversation. One of the waitresses poured beer down my friends back and she didn't appear to notice but we didn't complain because we felt that was all we had done all evening! The waitress must then have continued sloshing the beer down the stairs and I was walking down the stairs with my wine and slid all the way down to the floor legs in the air and the glass smashed through my hand and wine convered me from head to toe. Back at the table blood is pouring from my hand and the same imbecile waiter 'Joseph' came up to the table and said basically it was my fault because I was drunk! I said I wished I was drunk but had only just got my glass of wine as I had waited nearly an hour for it! He then gave a napkin as first aid and was dabbing me with NO GLOVES!!! and a shoddy plaster which blood continued to pour through. At this point I explained we were not happy and wanted to leave and he told us to calm down and we had been complaining since we had arrived and he had done everything he could to make our evening enjoyable. We said we did not feel this was the case and so said we were leaving. He then slammed the bill on the table and stormed off. I paid £25 of the £32 bill so far but really I am amazed he charged us at all because after all the drinks went down the stairs and the starters were cold! SO off we went me covered in blood and wine searching for proper first aid. The bouncers at Muggletons were fab and couldn't believe this Joseph guy had patched up my finger so badly which still had glass in it! They suggested we go back to fill in an accident form which we did but were told they didn't have any and 'Joseph' was now shouting at my pregnant friend that we were rude to HIM! The mgr finally told him that is not acceptable to speak to customers like that and told him to go away. She did a makeshift accident form and gave me a shot for the shock but we were still not offered our money back! So suffuce to say an evening of rude staff, no table, no drinks, raw starters and getting covered in blood and wine has put me off mexxa mexxa forever!!

5 friends and myself went for a meal in March 07. The service was appalling, the meal was disgusting. We complained and before we finished listing the problems the waitress said "you may have 10% off or free desserts" so this was obviously not the first complaint they had recieved. I rang the next day asking to lodge my complaint with the manager and was asked to leave a contact number and I would be rang back. I am still waiting!!!! I then wote a letter, and have yet 2months on, not recieved a reply. I think customer service is appalling. Go anywhere else BUT MEXXA MEXXA

We had booked a table for my mum's birthday on a friday night. When we arrived we had to wait 20 minutes for our first order of drinks to be taken, by that time we were ready to order our starters too. The starters actually arrived before our drinks, which were just sitting on the bar and we had to ask for them to be brought over. Starters were fine and they were cleared away very fast. We then had to wait 2 hours for our main courses. The staff were very busy so we just presumed that they were coming. When we asked the waitress where they were she came back and told us that nobody had told the kitchen that we had finished our starters so they had not even started cooking them. I found this strange - why wasn't the chef wondering why we had taken so long to eat four small starters and why weren't the waiting staff wondering why we were just sitting there twiddling our thumbs? The waitress apologised profusely and assured us that they would be there within 10 minutes and that we were the kitchen's priority. Of course, 10 minutes passed and still no food. The waitress went back to the kitchen and returned, apologising again, saying please could we wait five more minutes. Down came the waiter with some food, but they had cooked the wrong order - it wasn't even close! Again more apologies and more guarantees of "just five more minutes". Five minutes passed and still no food. We decided to cut our losses and leave. I asked to speak to the manager, who came down from the kitchen (why hadn't SHE spotted the long gap if she was in the kitchen?) She wasn't exactly polite, saying that they had had no other complaints that night (she was obviously out of touch, the table behind us had left due to the poor service too) and that she didn't need our business as she had lots of other people that would go and eat there! This is probably the worst example of management I have ever come across. She was rude and surly and could learn a lot from her waiting staff who were polite and hard working - unfortunately the Kitchen and management let them down. We certainly won't be visiting this place again and I strongly advise that anyone reading this page does the same.

Were shown our table. Sat down, no menu given to us. Had to ask a waitress to bring me a menu after waiting 5 mins. Drinks and food order was taken. Drinks came after a short delay as waitress sorts out an order they had messed up. Table adjacent to me trying to get the waitresses attention to come over and serve their table. A fellow customer had to ask the waitress to attend to the table as she was busy chatting to the barman. 40 mins had past, partner ready to eat the table - I asked the waitress to chase our starter, after another 10 min, turns out she hasn’t processed it! 5 mins later nachos turn up. Not a hard meal to prepare - especially when its all out of a jar! Second course arrives shortly after. They know by this time we are not over impressed. Comedy sketch happens next - another waitress steps on a mayo sachet and it exploded all over the floor and all over my partners trousers! They go to wipe the floor and not the trousers first - leave the floor cloth with cleaner fluid on our table! Where is the customer service in this place - not even an apology when we left. Never been treated soooo badly before. ummm don’t think we will return. Money better spent at the tapas place down the street.

We both love Mexican food but this was the first time we had gone to Mexxa Mexxa. We both loved it. The food was gorgeous with huge portions, really good value for money and the service was execellent, the waitresses - chatty, friendly and attentive and the food arrived promptly but with time for a rest between courses!

After a long day out in Greenwich park, with my other half and our dogs on Sunday (17/09/06) Instead of having quick food for something to eat. We decieded to take a detour to Maidstone on the way back home to Ashford. We stopped at Mexxa Mexxa and asked if we could sit outside because of the dogs. The staff were more than welcome. Whilst tying the dogs up a member of staff brought out a menu and took our order. We recieved our drinks within minutes and she had even brought out a bowl of water for the dogs. (fantatic service) The food as always delicious. We will be going back on the 30th Sept with more than ten people and cant wait.

My wife and I were having a wander around Maidstone and felt peckish. After consulting the menus outside various restaurants we decided to go Mexican. Ordered a Kronenbourg and ended up with a Corona which was ok. We ordered our starter and main course. The starter arrived promptly and it was excellent. Ordered another CORONA which the waitress forgot about, as she was too busy chatting to her friends. When asked if she had forgotten something, she replied no. Re - ordered our drinks and waited 50 minutes for our main course.Went up to the counter and asked for the bill. I was charged for the main course that never arrived. When I asked for it to be removed from my bill, she seemed puzzled. I told her we did not have a main course and was not prepared to wait any longer. There was no apology. Judging the food from the starters, it was fine. The service level was the worst I have ever experienced.

I introduced my partner to Mexxa Mexxa a couple of weeks ago.He was amazed by the portions and by how lively the restaraunt was.The sevice was fantastic as all the staff looked to be happy, helpfull and very efficiant ,even the manager took time out to thank us, say good-bye and to enjoy the rest of our evening. the whole evening was great for both myself and my partner, who was in need of a nice night out! ( which is very rare in maidstone!!) my partner will be recomending Mexxa to all his family and friends.

A truly outstanding little restaurant right in the hear of Maidstone. I have visited Mexxa Mexxa on many many occasions from quiet lunches to birthdays upstairs and I have never had a bad meal. The Scared Crow (the other Mexxa Mexxa style outlet in West Malling is equally as good but with a smaller menu !) Great Food, good service and buzzy atmosphere !

Good food, heroic portions, but seemingly everything comes with a blanket covering of paprika.

I visited mexxa Mexxa shortly after returning from a family holiday in Cabo San Lucas a small secluded (not to mention expensive and some what posh!) town at the tip of the baja peninsula. Having sampled exquisite mexican cuisine there with fresh fish, shrimps etc caught but a few hours before the meal I genuinely believe that mexxa mexxa food was a fantastic comparison....Tasting as wonderful as the authentic mexican and set in a traditional mexican style restaurant it felt as if for the one evening I had returned again. The prices were not unreasonable and if compared to the quality of the food...they certainly were quite fantastic...My first mexican meal outside of mexico itself and what is interesting is that Shortly before submitting this review I made my next booking!!!

I went to this restaurant with three friends as a treat as we hadn't seen each other for some time. We hadn't booked, but a table was found for us that was available for the next hour. We were slotted in, no problem. One of my friends was in a wheel chair and even though there were no specific facilities they were very helpful and accommodating. The service was excellent. The food was fantastic and the prices are not to be sniffed at. They also had a very appetising selection of drinks. I had a Coke Float - deeeelicious! It's the first time I've been to a Mexican Restaurant and it won't be the last. I definitely intend to visit Mexxa Mexxa again.
