This restraunt has always given us great food great attmosphere great wine and a great service from the staff. We are always given an itemised bill.

After waiting ten minutes to be given menus and a further ten minutes for the wine list we were served with expensive and yet decidedly average food which appears stuck firmly in the 1970's. My sea bass "special" was overcooked and served with soggy heated from frozen prawns. After finishing our main dish we sat with the dirty plates in front of us for a full half hour. Our upside-down bottle in the ice bucket was clearly an insufficient sign that we wanted more drinks and were there 45 minutes without being asked if we wanted more. If you are looking for surly lazy staff and overpriced overcooked food you will feel right at home. Otherwise avoid.

On a recent visit two people in our party ordered profritteroles as their sweet, we were all in shock when they arrived at the table - 2 profritteroles rolling around on a 7" plate. Cannot see how they can charge £4.00 per person for these ??, also they weren't even filled with dairy cream, instead it seemed to be some sort of synthetic squirty cream. Tesco will sell a whole pyramid for £1.99

We too were presented with a non-itemised bill - this is a big NO NO for me especially as it was a table for 16 people. I requested an itemised bill which seemed to be unforthcoming so I visited the bar for an explanation - the head 'honcho' seemed to be adding up random figures (I had no idea which items they were for) and the new total came to £40 less. I still have no idea how accurate either figure was - what would have happened if i had asked again...?? However, food was ok and sevice was acceptable. Will be unlikely to revisit again without first agreeing to an itemised bill.........this is something which should be a given....how can you run a business otherwise..??

Beware - they do not give an itemised bill. Both in the restaurant and the for the bar meals the bill does not itemise the food you have ordered. Service is still lacking a smile with the older staff - the new young foreign waiter and waitress are very pleasant....a lesson to be passed on to the older members of staff ?

I would wholeheartedly agree with S Smith--the food is exceptional,and the service excellent. When we are visiting family in the area-2/3 times a year on average,we never return home without a visit to our "favourite rest/bar". The staff have always made us[the visitors] welcome,and indeed have recalled our previous visits to the them[which is very rare nowadays]. Manuel is head "honcho" and nothing is too much trouble for him,as, in his own words--"if you are happy--then Si--I'm a happy too". So,K MORGAN,if you can get over the"pay before you eat"stance-which I should point out will disappear the more you eat there,it certainly deserves another visit-don't you think!! Think positive and ENJOY!.

Visited in May 2006 - pub and restaurant was packed - we had a friendly welcome and set up a tab in the bar before dining. The table was great, the staff attentive and the food was amazing. I loved the Scampi Provencale and partner had the fillet Steak. It reminded us of being on holiday - probably due to the Mediterrean staff. Lots of regulars and older generation there - which goes to show the food must be good - because they wont keep coming back.

Nice food, Shame about the staffs general attitude! I ordered food at the bar and was ASKED for a gratuity to be added to the bill which I was asked to pay before I had eaten. I paid as requested. After eating we were offered desserts and asked to pay for them as soon as they were delivered to our table, still having not eaten them! When tried to pay was rudely told 'over £10 on cards' only. Despite having already paid for the main meals! The member of staff then proceeded to argue with me! Don't like rudeness and arrogance, plenty of other places to eat! Won't go back!
